??“Traditional” thought seems to be that inspiration and motivation lead to action. But this is not consistent. Inspiration/motivation on their own can’t be relied upon. They can come and go randomly and are rarely around enough to make progress on something actually worth progressing in.
The KEY is to Take Action FIRST (Discipline)? and have that fuel your inspiration/motivation.
It’s EASIER to continue when you see progress gained from action already taken ?
It’s easier to practice guitar if you’re already playing it and hear the music and can see yourself getting better ?
If you wait to be “hit by inspiration or motivation” you’ll never practice consistently enough to make any real progress.
It is also important to make accessing whatever you want to practice easy to access. Don’t pick a gym that’s 30 minutes away. Don’t put your guitar in a deep closet across the house ?
Make access easy so you can start the action part without a second thought.
So next time you want to start something:
-Start small and with something accessible. Go for a walk, get a set of small weights, or signup for a gym very close to your house?
-Get an easy workout so that it gets you moving. Going for a run is easier if you’re already outside walking than it is starting from a sitting position on the couch. Lifting weights is easier if the weights are nearby at all times ?️
Here is a video that explains it pretty well ?
